Updates are short programs, running from one to four hours in length, on current topics that are of general interest and may also be used for annual retraining requirements found in radiation control programs.
The current program, entitled “Effects of Nuclear Weapons” looks at Dmitry Kiselyov’s assertion that Russia could turn the US into radioactive ash. Mr.Kiselyov is a Kremlin backed journalist, and made his remarks during the Crimean crisis. This course provides an overview of the Russian Nuclear arsenal and reviews all of the effects of nuclear weapons to include blast, thermal effects, radiation, fallout, and electromagnetic pulse. Students who complete the program should have an understanding of the threat posed by a nuclear exchange.
